Change the look of table text

You can change the appearance of the text for the entire table or just for specific table cells.

Change the appearance of all table text

You can set the font and font style for the entire table. You can also increase or decrease the font size proportionally for all text in the table. If you make the text larger or smaller, all text increases or decreases by the same percentage.

  1. Tap the table, tap Format button, then tap Table.

  2. Tap Table Options.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • Set the font: Tap Table Font, then tap a font name.

    • Apply a different font style (such as bold or italic): Tap Table Font, tap Info button next to the font name, then tap a style. If you don’t see a specific font style, it’s not available for your font.

    • Increase or decrease the font size: Tap Smaller or Larger. Text resizes immediately, so you can see which size works best.

Change the appearance of text in individual cells

You can change the font, color, size, and other attributes of text in table cells.

  1. Select the cells with the text you want to change.

  2. Tap Format button, tap Cell, then use the controls to select a font style (bold, italic, underlined, or strikethrough).

  3. Tap Text Options, then use the controls to change the size, color, or font.

Insert a line break or tab in a table cell

If you want to type multiple lines of text in a table cell, you can insert a line break in the cell.

You can also insert a tab.

  1. Double-tap a cell.

  2. In the keyboard, tap Text keyboard button below the input bar to display the text keyboard.

  3. Type the first paragraph of your text, then tap the input bar after the last character you typed (where you want to insert the line break or tab).

  4. Tap insert, then tap Line Break or Tab.

If you insert a line break, Paragraph Break appears in the input bar to indicate a line break was inserted.

For information about inserting a line break or tab in a text box or shape, see Align text and adjust spacing.

Wrap text in table cells

If a cell isn’t wide enough to display all the text in a cell, you can make the text wrap to the width of the cell so you can see all the text at once.

  1. Do any of the following:

    • Wrap text in a cell: Tap the cell.

    • Wrap text for a row or column: Select the row or column.

  2. Tap Format button, tap Cell, then turn on Wrap Text in Cell.

Scroll down to see Wrap Text in Cell.

For information about resizing rows and columns, go to Add and rearrange table rows and columns.
