Align text and adjust spacing

You can adjust text in a shape or text box so that it’s aligned to the left or right border, centered, or aligned on both left and right (justified). You can also change the vertical alignment, adjust line spacing, set the text margins, and change the number of columns in a shape or text box.

Align text

  1. Select the text box or shape, then tap Format button.

  2. Do any of the following:

    • Align text horizontally: Tap Text, then tap a horizontal alignment button.

    • Align text vertically: Tap Arrange, then tap a vertical alignment button.

Adjust line spacing, set paragraph margins, and add columns

You can adjust the spacing between lines, set the margins, and increase or decrease the number of columns in a shape or text box.

  1. Tap inside a shape or text box, or select text.

  2. Tap Format button in the toolbar, then tap Layout.

    If you don’t see Layout, make sure you placed the insertion point in the text, instead of selecting the entire shape or text box.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • Increase or decrease the number of columns: Tap Minus sign or Plus sign next to Column.

    • Increase or decrease the margins: Tap Minus sign or Plus sign next to Margin.

    • Adjust the space between lines of text: Tap the Line Spacing arrows.

Insert a tab or line break in text

You can insert a tab or line break in text in a text box or shape.
