Add a transition between slides

Transitions are visual effects that play as you move from one slide to the next. For example, the Push transition makes a slide appear to push the previous slide off the screen.

Add a transition between slides

  1. Select a slide in the slide navigator.

  2. Click the Add an Effect button near the top of the sidebar on the right.

If you don’t see a sidebar, or the sidebar doesn’t have an Add an Effect button, click Animate button in the toolbar.

  3. Choose a transition.

A preview of the transition plays, and the slide navigator displays a blue marker in the corner of the slide to indicate that a transition has been added.

A blue triangle on a slide indicates the slide has a transition.
  4. Specify transition options, such as duration and direction, using the controls in the sidebar.

If you choose to have a transition start automatically, it begins playing immediately after you advance the slide.

To change the transition, click the Change button in the sidebar and choose a different one, or choose None to remove it.

Tip: To apply the same transition to multiple slides, apply the transition to a slide, then duplicate that slide multiple times. The transition is already in place when you add content to the duplicated slides.
