Export a macOS app

Export your app when you want to distribute it directly to users or a group of testers.

  1. In the Archives organizer, select the archive you want to export, and click Export.

Note: If the Export button is disabled, verify that the archive contains a single top-level app.

  2. In the sheet that appears, select the type of export.

Create a Mac Installer Package containing your app: Select “Save for Mac App Store Deployment.”

Sign the app with a trusted developer certificate: Select "Export a Developer ID-signed Application.”

Sign the app with your development certificate for testing on registered devices only: Select “Export a Development-signed Application.”

Don’t sign the app: Select “Export as a Mac Application.”

  3. Click Next, and in the sheet that appears, choose a team from the pop-up menu and click Choose.

  4. Review the entitlements, and provisioning profile.

To reveal the entitlements, expand the disclosure triangle next to the app name.

  5. Click Export.

The Finder shows the exported file.
