You can change a chart from one type to another. For example, you can change a column chart to a bar chart, or a 2D chart to a 3D chart.
Select the chart, then in the Chart pane of the Format inspector, choose an option from the Chart Type pop-up menu at the bottom of the inspector.
If you can’t edit a chart, it may be locked. Unlock it to make changes.
