page layout document

A page layout document is essentially a blank canvas to which you add text boxes and other elements and arrange them however you want. If you turn a word-processing document (like a letter, which is primarily text) into a page layout document, the body text area is removed to create the blank canvas.

Some Pages templates are designed specifically for page layout. To see whether your open document is set up for page layout, click Document in the toolbar, then click Document. If Document Body is deselected, your document is a page layout document.
