Use a WebDAV server to store spreadsheets

You can transfer spreadsheets in various formats between a WebDAV server and your iOS device.

You can transfer files from the server to your iOS device in Numbers ‘09, Excel, or CSV file format. Before you can transfer files using a WebDAV server, you must first set it up to be accessible in Numbers on an iOS device.

Copy files between a WebDAV server and an iOS device

  1. Open Numbers on your device.

  2. In the spreadsheet manager (with no spreadsheet open), tap Add button in the toolbar.

  3. Tap Copy from WebDAV, then type the server address (web address or URL).

  4. Enter your user name and password.

  5. Tap Sign In.

After you sign in to your WebDAV server, you can copy files to or from the server without signing in again. You remain signed in to the server you set up until you tap Sign Out.

  6. Do one of the following:

    • Copy a spreadsheet from the server: Tap Add button in the spreadsheet manager toolbar, then tap Copy from WebDAV. Locate the file on the server, then tap it. When the transfer is complete, the spreadsheet appears in the spreadsheet manager.

    • Copy a spreadsheet to the server: Tap Share menu button in the spreadsheet manager toolbar, tap Send a Copy, then tap the spreadsheet you want to transfer. Tap a format for the spreadsheet, then tap WebDAV. Tap where you want to send the spreadsheet, then tap Copy.
