Keynote can open presentations saved in iCloud, on your iPad, on connected servers, and in third-party storage providers such as DropBox.
You can use Keynote to open and edit presentations created with Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx and .ppt), and you can send copies of Keynote presentations in other formats, such as PowerPoint and PDF
You open presentations in the presentation manager in Keynote. In the presentation manager, do one of the following:
Open a local version of a presentation: Tap the presentation thumbnail. If you upgraded to iCloud Drive, any edits you make are synced with your other devices that use iCloud Drive.
If you don’t see your presentations, you may need to set up iCloud on your device, or turn on iCloud Drive for Keynote in Settings > iCloud.
Tip: You can search the presentation manager by presentation name or view presentations by date or name. To see these controls, swipe down on the presentation manager screen. You can search by presentation name, but not by folder name.
Open a presentation stored in iCloud Drive: Tap the small
in the top-left corner of the screen, tap iCloud Drive, tap the Keynote folder (or another folder that contains the presentation), then tap the presentation you want to open.
The thumbnail appears in the presentation manager and a progress bar appears on the thumbnail during the download. If you upgraded to iCloud Drive, any edits you make are synced with your other devices that use iCloud Drive. When the download is finished, tap the thumbnail.
Note: If you haven’t upgraded your iOS device to use iCloud Drive, you can open and edit iCloud presentations, but syncing won’t work in all cases. You must use iCloud Drive for seamless sharing and syncing of presentations. See this Apple Support article for more information.
Open a presentation from a third-party file provider: Tap the small
in the top-left corner of the screen, tap More, then choose from the available sources. The provider name is added to the list. Tap the provider name, then tap the presentation.
Presentations opened this way are not added to the thumbnails in the presentation manager. You must open presentations from third-party file providers through the
menu each time.
Open a presentation from a WebDAV server or iTunes: Tap the small
in the top-left corner of the screen, tap WebDAV or iTunes, provide any required information, then tap the presentation. iTunes only appears if you added presentations to iTunes.
The presentation thumbnail appears in the presentation manager, and the presentation opens as a local copy. If you edit the presentation, the changes aren’t synced with other devices unless you move it to iCloud.
You can open Keynote presentations in other apps installed on your device. For example, you can open a presentation as a PDF in iBooks.
In the presentation manager, tap
, then tap Open in Another App.
Tap the presentation.
Tap a format supported by the app you want to use, then provide any required information.
Tap an app to choose it.
The presentation opens in the app on your device.
