This chapter describes the language support for film products. Apple accepts films with multiple language audio, subtitles, forced subtitles, and dub card videos. In addition, you can supply localizations for title, synopsis, cast, crew, and chapter titles. For example, you can deliver the film asset, audio assets in multiple languages, subtitles and forced subtitles in multiple languages, and multiple language localizations in one XML file for the film. You must also deliver a worldwide trailer and worldwide poster art. Apple arranges the components into bundles—each bundle is a sellable product, which means that there could be multiple bundles produced for the same vendor ID. Each bundle is composed of various combinations of the movie source and other assets included in the package; each bundle is similar to a physical product SKU. Bundles are designated by country/region.
Apple recommends that you supply a consistent language locale for assets delivered for a territory. For example, if you supply audio for en-US, use the same locale (en-US, as opposed to en or en-GB) for any additional assets, such as subtitles, forced narratives, and so on.
Note: If a film is to be sold or rented outside of the U.S. and the film contains music, you should deliver cue sheets, if available.
