Digital cameras use the Exchangeable Image File (EXIF) format to store a wealth of information about an image, including its size, the date and time it was taken, the type of camera used, and important exposure information, such as the shutter speed and aperture. If your camera has Global Positioning System (GPS) capability, information about where the photo was taken is also included.
