Contacts exports contact information as vCard 3.0 files, but some apps don’t accept files in this format. Try changing the vCard file format that Contacts uses.
Choose Contacts > Preferences, then click vCard.
Select 2.1.
Export your contacts again, then try importing the new vCard file.
