After SAN setup, you create volumes by using unused LUNS or by adding LUNs to the storage pool.
In the Xsan pane of the Server app, click Add below the Volumes list.
Give the volume a unique name in your SAN.
For the volume name, use only uppercase letters (A–Z), lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), and underscores ( _ ). Don’t include spaces or hyphens. The maximum length is 70 characters.
Choose volume options, as needed.
For volume options, see Change volume settings.
Label the LUNs by selecting them.
Unlabeled LUNs can’t be used in a Storage Pool.
Assign a LUN to metadata and journaling.
Select the MetadataAndJournal storage pool, then click Edit .
Check the LUN that you want to assign to the pool, then click OK.

Assign a LUN to store user data.
Select the Data storage pool, then click Edit .
Check the LUN that you want to assign to the pool, then click OK.

Add additional storage pools and customize what kinds of data they hold.
See Add storage and Customize storage pool type.
Click Create.
