Use the Time Machine pane of the Server app to make server disk space available for backing up users’ computers, to add or remove disks used for storing user backups, or for monitoring backup activity.
Select Time Machine in the Server app sidebar.
Decide who gets to use the service.
Click the On/Off switch to turn on Time Machine service, then click Choose.
Select a disk or folder to use as the destination for users’ backups, then click Choose.
To limit the disk space of each backup, click “Limit each backup to GB of disk space,” then enter a value. The limit is only applied to Mac computers with OS X v10.9 or later when the initial backup is performed.
Backup limits are respected only if they’re set before the client performs an initial backup. If you set the limits after the client has performed its initial backup, the quota won’t be enforced until the user performs another initial backup.
Click Create.

If you turn on Time Machine service when File Sharing service is off, File Sharing service turns on automatically.
If you change a backup disk or folder, users’ Time Machine preferences that were set to use that disk or folder on the server for backup storage will automatically begin using the Backups folder in its new location.
After selecting a different backup disk or folder, advise users that their first backup will take longer, because it’s a full backup. Time Machine service doesn’t copy users’ backup data from the old Backups folder.
You can control each user’s access to the server’s Time Machine backup storage in the Users pane of the Server app.
