Using a password to protect your Public folder

If you're using Mac OS X, you can password-protect your Public folder.

To password-protect your Public folder:

If you're using Mac OS X version 10.3 or later, open System Preferences and click .Mac. Click iDisk and select the "Password protect your Public Folder" checkbox. Type the password in the Password and Confirm fields, and click OK.

If you're using Mac OS X version 10.2, open System Preferences and click Internet. Click the iDisk tab, then click the "Use a Password to Protect your Public Folder" checkbox. Type the password in the Password and Confirm fields, then click OK. Click Apply Now. (You can change your password at any time by clicking the Password button in the iDisk pane of Internet preferences.)

If you're using a version of Mac OS X earlier than version 10.2, use iDisk Utility to password-protect your Public folder. To learn more about iDisk Utility, open Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder), and choose Help > Disk Utility Help.

If you want other users to access your Public folder, be sure to give them your password.
