Using iTunes on your computer, you can directly transfer spreadsheets between your iPad and your computer. Import spreadsheets with Numbers ’09, Microsoft Excel, or comma-separated values (CSV) file formats created on your computer to view or edit in Numbers on your iPad. Numbers spreadsheets created on your iPad can be exported to your computer in Numbers, PDF, and Excel file formats.

To print your spreadsheet, you must first transfer it to a computer connected to a printer.

Export a spreadsheet to your computer:

  1. In My Spreadsheets view (with all spreadsheets closed), scroll until the spreadsheet you want to export is in the center of the screen, and then tap Send button.

  2. Tap “Send to iTunes,” and then tap the document format you want to export to: Numbers, PDF, or Excel.

  3. Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes on your computer. After a moment, your iPad appears listed under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.

  4. In iTunes, select the name of your iPad, and then click Apps.

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Apps window, and then select Numbers in the Apps list under File Sharing.

  6. Select the name of the spreadsheet you want to transfer to your computer and click “Save to.”

  7. In the window that appears, navigate to the location where you want to store the spreadsheet, and then click Choose.

Import a spreadsheet from your computer:

  1. Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes on your computer. After a moment, your iPad appears listed under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.

  2. In iTunes, select the name of your iPad, and then click Apps.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Apps window, and then select Numbers in the Apps list under File Sharing.

  4. Click Add, and then locate the spreadsheet you want to import in the “Choose a File: iTunes” window that appears.

  5. Select the file and click Choose.

  6. Open Numbers on your iPad.

  7. In My Spreadsheets view, tap Import button, and then tap “Copy from iTunes.”

  8. Tap the name of the spreadsheet you want to import in the list. The spreadsheet opens.
